How safe is the CTA Red Line south of Cermak-Chinatown?

On the Chicago CTA… particularly at night. Is it reasonably safe for a woman alone?
Well, there’s a guy I’m probably going on a date with who lives in Munster, IN. I live near the Loop. I was wondering if I should offer to take the red line to 95th to meet him halfway or if I should make him come here (I don’t drive). There’s the South Shore train but it only comes every 2 hours on the weekends. I think I’ll have him come here for a first date and if he’s really something I will offer to take the South Shore to meet him next time.
Sounds like I don’t want to be going south on the red line. I’ve seen it get pretty sketchy sometimes even going north at night.
